DETECTORWORLD has taken place in Zuidbroek in the Netherlands, over the course of two days. Thousands of metal detectorists from all over the World, some with whole families, attended an event, which combined metal detecting rally with a detecting related exhibition, trade show and relevant presentations. There were many exhibitors, including metal detecting magazines, bookshops, finds restorers and of course manufacturers and dealers of all sorts of detecting related equipment. Each day dozens of valuable and interesting prizes were provided by the organisers with a live band playing at the special after party. It was the second edition of Detectorworld and many more are planned in the future. It was great to see the enthusiasm and professionalism of the organisers, who also promoted the idea of close cooperation with the archaeologists. Among people invited were not only detectorists known mainly for their YouTube and social media activities, but also working archaeologists who had a chance to identify finds and discuss many various schemes used to register and record finds, used in different European countries. All in all a well organised and interesting event, which the ECMD will watch closely in the future.
